Why we love

The kalamkari artists, in Andhra Pradesh, India, are supported by an NGO called DWARAKA (Development of Weavers And Rural Artisans in Kalamkari Art). The NGO since its inception has supported hundreds of women artisans in the area to develop their skill in this traditional art form and create a sustainable source of income for their family by creating this stunning work of art. Derived from the words kalam meaning pen and kari meaning work, the art of kalamkari involves painting using combinations of plant materials as natural vegetable dyes on fabric. Since each kalamkari cloth is hand-painted, each piece of art is unique and has the artists' personal touch.
