Why we love

Our collection of Talavera Pottery comes from a fourth generation family-run business based in Hidalgo, Mexico. Their pottery exudes painstaking and high quality craftsmanship. But what truly sets them apart is the modern touch given to traditional patterns. Age-old techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation have been used on contemporary designs to produce unique pieces that are truly works of art.

A bit about Talavera Pottery - Talavera is a type of majolica earthenware, distinguished by its white base glaze. It is fired at extremely high temperatures producing a very durable product. When the spanish introduced their stylized pottery to their recently established colony in Mexico in the 16th century, the local artisans blended these new techniques with their established practices to create this famous art of pottery making. Ironically, today the term Talavera is used much more in Mexico than in Talavera de la Reina, Spain. Vibrant colours and delicate details are the trademarks of this type of pottery.
