Why we love
Blue pottery is an age old craft of Jaipur that has an influence of turkish, persian and chinese pottery. It was brought to India by the Mughals in 17th century and was widely used to embellish architectural structures. Over time, the master craftsmen refused to share their knowledge of the craft and it faced near extinction around the 1950s. But it has slowly revived itself and is now an industry that provides employment to many in Jaipur.
What we LOVE the most about this traditional craft is its use of vibrant bold colours - the flower, animals and bird motifs- and that it blends effortlessly and beautifully in any contemporary setting.
Due its handmade nature you may occasionally notice a minor irregularity like a paint smudge on some of our blue pottery pieces. This we think only adds to the character of the piece and reminds us of the human hands behind its making.
